Meet the Owner

Hello! My name is Kaleea “Maggie” Vincent.  I am the owner of Communication Station Speech Therapy.  I received my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Oklahoma State University in Communication Sciences and Disorders. I hold my Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association and am licensed by the Oklahoma State Board of Examiners for Speech Pathology and Audiology.  In addition, I also hold the Professional DIR-FCD Certificate in Emotional, Social and Cognitive Development and am certified in the Hanen It Takes Two to Talk program.  All of this means I have completed significant continuing education learning to help you and your child in unique ways.

I began training for my career as a speech-language pathologist through extensive clinical experiences in schools, daycares, hospitals and private clinics.  Each setting taught me invaluable lessons which helped shape me into the speech-language pathologist I am today.  Through my time in each setting, I have learned that I love the flexibility and intensity that only private speech therapy can offer.  Private practice allows me to work closely with families in a way I was not able to in any other setting.

In 2014, I began introducing the DIR-FCD model (popularly known as Floortime) into my treatment sessions.  In 2016, I completed the formal certification process.  This certification has allowed me to tailor my assessments and treatment sessions to each child’s foundational capacities.   This means, the children I see are given a unique perspective to speech therapy.  I respect their individual differences (such as their sensory or motor needs) while helping them relate, communicate and think in ways they haven’t before.  I work with your child to help fill in the "missing pieces" to their communication abilities.

I help parents to identify not only their child’s areas of difficulty, but areas of strength as well.  I believe each child has strengths which can be utilized to help them engage more easily in the world around them!

The best part of all of this is it is done through play! Research has proven time and time again that children learn best through play.  I have found in my experience that children retain what I am teaching them when it is done in fun and exciting ways! In addition, parents have an easier time implementing their child’s goals into daily life when they can do so in a natural way.

I am excited to bring the Hanen It Takes Two to Talk program to Tulsa.  This program is a step-by-step process training parents to become their child's language facilitator.  This program is wonderful for families who feel their child may not require typical speech therapy intervention, but need a little extra help communicating.

A Team Approach

I started Communication Station Speech Therapy to achieve a career-long goal of mine: help parents recognize the strengths of their child while working to overcome the areas of difficulty.  I want to empower children to communicate effectively and parents to know that you have the tools to help your child succeed. I view our roles in your child's life to be a team approach.  Your child is the center of our focus, the parents are the players on the team and I am the coach!

I have extensive experience working on multi-disciplinary teams comprised of occupational therapists, physical therapists, teachers, and licensed professional counselors.  I will collaborate with all appropriate professionals to ensure your child's success.  When necessary, I will recommend referrals to other professionals to meet your child's needs.
